ZolMarket is an OLX-style classifieds marketplace built for Sudan, where second-hand trade in cars, phones and property largely happens through informal, trust-poor channels. The app gives buyers and sellers a structured, bilingual (English/Arabic) market: a moderated ad pipeline, a deep category → subcategory → brand → model taxonomy with vehicle-specific attributes, real-time buyer–seller chat with in-message price offers, seller profiles with ratings and followers, and Stripe-powered featured-ad promotion. Built in bare React Native 0.83 with TypeScript, Redux Toolkit and a Firebase backend (Auth, Firestore, FCM), with listing images served from a Cloudflare R2 CDN.
In Sudan, second-hand trade — cars, phones, electronics, property — mostly happens through word of mouth and social-media groups. There is no structured search, no seller accountability, no safe way to negotiate a price, and no way for a serious seller to stand out. Buyers can't verify who they're dealing with, and sellers can't reach beyond their immediate circle.
ZolMarket replaces those informal channels with a purpose-built, bilingual (English/Arabic) marketplace: every ad passes a moderation pipeline before going live, listings are organised in a deep category → subcategory → brand → model taxonomy (with vehicle-specific fields like mileage, transmission and fuel type), buyers negotiate through in-app chat with structured price offers, and seller profiles carry ratings, reviews and follower counts so reputation is earned and visible. Sellers can boost reach with paid 3-, 7- or 30-day featured placements.
The result is a trustworthy, searchable market where none existed: buyers filter by exact model and city instead of scrolling group posts, negotiation happens in an auditable chat, bad actors are filtered by moderation and reputation, and honest sellers finally have a distribution channel that rewards them.
